Six years after the small university town of Oviedo, Spain showed new adaptive traffic control could reduce traffic delays, two systems were installed and operating in Brazil and Spain. The city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, installed two types along the commuter, commercial, and service route on the Av. Lins de Vasconcelos. The average reduction in delay was calculated at 14.4 percent and speeds improved 14 percent over a 15 hour period Before implementation speeds where typically less than 15 kilometers per hour. This was a 25 percent improvement.
