Georgia DOT highlights the low cost of implementing new radio-frequency identification (RFID) toll transponder technology.

Through a partnership with the 6C Toll Operators Coalition (6C TOC) the State Road &Tollway Authority (SRTA) in Georgia reduced toll transponder deployment costs through pricing competition and common equipment testing.
Using the the 6C protocol standard, RFID enabled windshield stickers were able to be provide to motorists for $0.78 per unit versus $9.20 per unit for the older transponder tag technology.
